Amputation Prevention Centers of America® is now in Houston, TX!

The most common cause of non-traumatic major amputations (below- or above-the-knee) is complications from diabetes. If you or a loved one are suffering from a non-healing sore on your foot – called a diabetic foot ulcer – or if you have a foot infection or poor circulation, you may be at risk for an amputation.

The good news is that the majority of amputations related to these problems can be avoided. According to the World Health Organization, up to 80% of amputations due to complications of diabetes are preventable. That’s where the Amputation Prevention Centers at Memorial Hermann come in.
